The Bolivian team that attended the Special Olympics was received in style in Santa Cruz. The return of the national delegation took place this Tuesday in the early morning to the international airport of Viru Viru, where relatives and friends of the athletes who left the name of Bolivia attended.

The inclusive event for people with intellectual disabilitiesl, was held in Berlin, Germany, from June 17 to 25. Representatives from 192 countries participated in it, competing in 26 sports disciplines.

Hours later gave a press conferenceat the Yotaú All Suites Hotel, to provide details of what their participation in the Olympics meant and they received recognition right there (see video at the end of the note) and the Vice Ministry of Sports also delivered economic incentives.

Bolivia was made up of six athletes. María José Pers (Santa Cruz), Estrella Castañeta (La Paz), Gloria Poichée (Santa Cruz) and Lizette Miura (La Paz) participated in gymnastics, the first two in level 4 and the last two in level 3. The other two athletes They did it in swimming, Luis Miguel Justiniano (Beni) and Marianela Soto (Potosí).

The Bolivian harvest in these Special Olympics was 17 medals, all in gymnastics, six of them gold, five silver and six bronze.

Athletes of all ages gathered at this event, genders and nationalities. They competed, coexisted and shared the joy of sport, embodying the sports spirit, and breaking the stereotypes and expectations of society.
