Granny withdraws all her savings from the bank after falling for the 'gold nuggets' scam

An innocent old woman ended up scammed and without savings after a woman, of presumed foreign nationality, approached her and scammed her with the story of the false ‘gold nuggets’ in the city of Cusco.

The victim agreed to provide support to the unknown so that she can find the establishment. However, according to Nora, a third person appeared who was also consulted for the same thing.

“He told me that he had to sell his ‘gold nuggets’ urgently because he had a sick family member who was going to have an operation. Then a man came who said he had a friend who could buy them, but when we went to see him he wasn’t there.”, Nora Choque told ATV.

Later, the woman offered the gold to Nora Choque and the man who accompanied them affirmed that it was real ore. “They took me to a cafe and there the woman took out all the gold”, added the victim.

Immediately afterwards, Nora Choque was convinced to buy the gold, and the stranger offered to accompany her to the bank. The victim took out a total of 7 thousand soles from her savings to make the purchase.

The old lady received the fake ‘gold nuggets’ and both scammers disappeared. “They made me withdraw all my savings, my relatives told me why I trusted these strangers”, Choque concluded.

The case has been reported to the National Police of Peru and it is expected that, with the support of some recordings where both subjects appear, their capture can be found.
