A judge in charge of controlling the guarantees in Pitalito, Huila, ordered the detention in a prison against a 34-year-old man, who was caught on September 8 trying to sexually abuse his grandmother, an 80-year-old woman.
The Attorney General’s Office charged the accused with the crimes of domestic violence and violent sexual acts, both aggravated.

The investigation, carried out by the judicial body, revealed that the aggressor lived with the victim in the same house. According to the evidence collected, the man, apparently under the influence of hallucinogenic substances, had attempted to sexually assault the elderly woman. During the incident, the victim’s sister-in-law tried to intervene to protect her, but was also physically assaulted by the accused.

The information provided indicates that the physical and verbal aggressions, as well as the attempts at sexual abuse, were repeated behaviours by the accused. The data obtained show a pattern of persistent violence, which has led the Prosecutor’s Office to classify the case as highly serious.
Following the attack, the victim was taken to the Hospital del Valle de Laboyos to receive medical attention. The alleged attacker was caught in flagrante delicto by the National Police, who acted quickly to arrest the man and bring him before the competent authority.
During the preliminary hearings, the accused did not accept the charges. The case is still under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office.
