Grandfather sentenced to 17 years for abusing his granddaughter

Trapped a subject accused of two homicides

The 2nd Control Court of Falcón decreed a sentence consisting of 17 years in prison for Freddy Alberto Ollarves Chirinos (74), who admitted his responsibility in the commission of a sexual act against his seven-year-old granddaughter, the Public Ministry reported.

This event occurred on March 24 of this year inside a home located in the Curazaito sector of the San Juan parish, Miranda (Coro) municipality, Falcón.

According to the investigation, during that day the girl was sharing with her grandfather in the living room of the house when the man began to touch her private parts. Meanwhile, the victim’s mother was preparing food with the convict’s wife.

The perpetrator’s partner came out of the kitchen and saw Ollarves Chirinos while he was touching his granddaughter’s private parts. Immediately, she asked him why he was doing it and the man replied that he was helping the girl change the channel on the television, the Public Ministry’s account says.

Upon learning of the facts, the girl’s mother went to the Cicpc headquarters the next day and reported her father-in-law. As a result, Ollarves Chirinos was arrested on March 27 and was placed at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office.

In the preliminary hearing, the 10th Prosecutor’s Office of Falcón ratified the accusation against Ollarves Chirinos for the crime of a sexual act with a particularly vulnerable victim in a continuous degree. The accused admitted the facts and consequently the aforementioned court imposed the sentence on him.
