GP senators ask the European Parliament to award Mexican journalists

In their letter, the legislators of the GP, which is also a member of Germán Martínez, Emilio Álvarez Icaza, Gustavo Madero and Alejandra Gastélum, listed various communicators and media outlets that “are the visible faces of a reality that is in the insidious crosshairs of the President’s comments that extend media and professional information organizations rigorously”.

Carlos Loret de Mola, Carmen Aristegui, Azucena Uresti, Ciro Gómez Leyva
and Víctor Trujillo (Brozo) are some journalists and communicators who the senators say are in “the insidious sight of the president’s comments”, which extend to media and organizations such as El Universal, Reforma, Proceso, Animal Político and Article 19.

Last Thursday The European Parliament issued a resolution in which he asked Mexico to provide conditions for the free exercise of journalists and human rights defenders, a fact that President López Obrador disqualified calling the MEPs “sheep” and denied that there were risky conditions to practice journalism.

In the letter from the Plural Group, the legislators assured that there is such an adverse climate for practicing journalism in Mexico.

“We do not seek to accuse anyone nor do we intend to exculpate the current government of Mexico from its responsibility to clarify and punish the murders of journalists, our intention is clear and resounding, we seek the support of the representatives of Europe in the face of the dramatic situation that exists in Mexico. regarding freedom of expression,” they stated.
