Governors League: A Federal Challenge

Governors League: A Federal Challenge

No one can doubt in the Argentine Republic regarding the need to build a more just and equitable country with a clearly federal conception.

A fair and federal Argentina includes everyone, without exception, regardless of their ideology and the political space they represent.

Our provinces need not only an infrastructure plan that guarantees the correction of historical asymmetries, in order to achieve systemic competitiveness through integrated logistics, but also the development of their comparative advantages aimed at a productive model that generates quality jobs, and at the same time take advantage of its potential for the generation of clean and renewable energies.

The world needs food, energy, gas, oil, fertilizers, nuclear reactors, strategic minerals, liquid fuels, human and animal pharmacology, modern biotechnology, satellites, radars and multiple technological and productive developments that we can contribute to this international crisis.

We have to unite our efforts and will to resolve strictly circumstantial issues that become structural to the extent that we are not capable of developing long-term solutions.

The production of liquid fuels constitutes a recurrent problem for which investments and a plan that implies definitively resolving these restrictions are needed. From the cut of biodiesel, bioethanol, to the production of solar, wind and green hydrogen energy, through investments in distilleries or surplus accumulation systems in low demand season, to a model of strategic reserves that prevent supply problems that alter the functioning of the economy by distorting the production and price chain.

In the same way, it is necessary to solve the problems of public passenger transport, from the price of fares, to the renewal of the fleet, passing through the substitution of the use of diesel oil for biodiesel, gas or eventually the replacement by electric vehicles.

We want to build among all the pillars to overcome logistical, energy and external restrictions through a federal plan that ends this absurd concentration of population and wealth in a few hands and in a limited geographic space. 0.01% of the surface concentrates between 37 and 40% of the country’s population!

This cannot happen. Nor get worse by the mere passage of time.

We do not want to remain attached to conjunctural discussions such as the decentralization of social programs, the design of tools to boost our regional economies or the debate on legislative initiatives linked to investment treaties with foreign countries, as well as the development of the agro-industry law.

We want to be part of the solutions that stimulate the necessary consensus to reduce inflation, promote productive investments and increase export diversification.

Our provinces constitute the basis for the recovery of the country in an international context of high uncertainty.

We are the ones who are going to defend environmental sustainability, promote macroeconomic stability, defend our strategic resources and definitively constitute the national union, beyond our circumstantial differences.

By Jorge Capitanich, Governor of Chaco.
