Rejection. Regional governors do not accept that the president has said that the regional authorities call for protests and road blockades.
In a letter addressed to the President Dina Boluartehe The Board of Directors of the National Assembly of Regional Governments (ANGR) rejected the accusations made by the president against the regional governors when affirming that they are the ones who call the protests and the road blockand asked to correct such accusations.
“By means of the present we address you requesting that you kindly correct yourself or retract the erroneous assessments, perceptions and false accusations against the Governors (it also does so with the mayors) of the regions, in which the social movements of protest and political indignation have been registered and registered, revealed, with the painful result of more than 60 dead citizens and that has led the Executive to declare in state of emergency to the southern regions”, they point out in the document.
Then they mention that during their statement to the media To report on the meeting she held with representatives of political parties, President Boluarte stated the following:
“The governors and mayors have recently been elected, sworn in and are in office, but if they are going to continue with that rhetoric of wanting to continue closing the roads, wanting to continue encouraging the population in their region, not working with the Executive, Well, what will be their response as regional and local authorities to the work that they are not going to achieve? while their region is locked, locked by themselves. We want to continue working so that we can bring development and quality of life to the length and breadth of our country”, specify the directors of the assembly of governors.
After alluding to his “good reflective judgment”, they say that these statements, in addition to being false, are emotional levities that are more serious precisely given her status as president. In addition, it unnecessarily creates a dangerous scenario of social conflict in the regions.
Likewise, they contravene the democratic relationship that should exist between the Government national with regional governments and local governments, both provincial and district, leaving aside the strengthening of governance and democratic institutions.
“His assertions expose us irresponsibly, committing ourselves to acts, facts, thoughts or expressions that none of the regional governors have ever carried out and that we subscribe to this open letter that, with all due respect, we send to your office, awaiting the corrections that the case merits ”, is noted in the letter. On the subject, the president of the ANGR, Rohel Sanchezwrote on Twitter: “President Dina Boluarte is wrong to believe that the governors called for protests with road blocks. We were elected to govern the regions and improve the quality of life of our people. It is up to us to work for a united and reconciled Peru”.
He says his statement was misinterpreted.
President Dina Boluarte urged regional governors and mayors to resume dialogue with the Executive.
“I want to summon the governors and mayors of the country who, although it is true that some of my expressions have been misinterpreted, the intention has been to continue summoning to be able to work in that unity that the country needs everyone. In that look, I again call on all authorities, let’s keep working “indicated.
