With their resolution, the rulers accused of the so-called “fourth transformation”, “our national dignity is severely injured.”
In the brief of the morenistas, which was signed by the head of the city government, Claudia Sheinbaum, David Monreal of Zacatecas, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Ricardo Gallardo (of the Green Party, PVEM) among others, it is ensured that in the past there was a “tight media fence” against López Obrador and that the European Parliament did not pronounce itself.

They also showed that when reading the Resolution endorsed by the European Parliament on Thursday, March 10, the Euro MP Francisco Millán Mon, of the European Conservative Party, stated that in Mexico “there is no legal certainty for companies, a lack is suffered, for example, by foreign investments in the energy sector, including European companies”.
That is why they considered it “regrettable” that the defense of press freedom is used “to cover up the interest in undermining the electrical reform that is being debated” in Mexico.
Morena rules out “anti-press” climate in Mexico
Meanwhile, in Morena’s document in the Senate -a body of the Mexican State that analyzes Mexican foreign policy- legislators rejected an increase in the number of murders of human rights defenders and journalistsas well as a climate of impunity in the face of the violence they experience, as proposed by the European Parliament.
The document signed by 15 morenista senators states that the resolution issued by the EP is “deplorable”, since they rejected that scenario.

That is “a misrepresentation” of what is happening in Mexico and when issuing its resolution, the EP did not value the efforts of the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador and did not take into account the reduction of insecurity, according to lawmakers.
The position was signed by 15 senators led by the president of the Senate board of directors, Olga Sánchez Cordero, Héctor Vasconcelos, president of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, César Cravioto Romero, Mónica Fernández Balboa, Napoleón Gómez Urrutia, among others.
In a different tone from the response of the Mexican government -written by President López Obrador- in which accused MEPs of being “sheep”, the position of the senators was more measured.
In the brief they ratified that in their opinion the resolution of the European Parliament is aligned with the adversaries of the federal government and transnational interests that seek privileges, “the plunder of public goods” or because they feel affected by Mexican energy policy.
For this reason, they criticized that the European deputies issued a judgment “that condemns in a withering manner, but perhaps uninformed and certainly distorted, the government of Mexico.”
According to the document, “the responsibility of previous governments” is not properly valued, “the efforts of the current government” are not weighed objectively and that in his opinion crimes are going down.
“(It has) been possible to reverse a trend in intentional homicides that were on the rise without any brake. In Mexico, violence is beginning to be reduced thanks to the strategy undertaken by the current federal government consisting of combating the root causes of insecurity – poverty, inequality and corruption-, same that the current government fights”, they highlighted.
