Culiacán, Sinaloa, February 15, 2023.- In the company of a group of students from the Ramón Fuentes Iturbe elementary school and at the invitation of military authorities, this morning, Governor Rubén Rocha Moya attended the ceremony for the destruction of confiscated weapons and made available to the Secretary of National Defense, organized by the IX Military Zone, under the command of the Brigadier General, General Staff Graduate, Alfredo Salgado Vargas.
After paying homage to the flag, on the esplanade of the 11th Motorized Infantry Group, in the presence of representatives of the legislative and judicial powers, as well as federal, state and municipal authorities, Governor Rubén Rocha Moya highlighted the important coordination with the commands military, whose work he referred to the young students as an example of dedication and commitment to the well-being of the citizen.
“I reiterate my gratitude to General Salgado, the generals, the chiefs, officers, the troops, for the work they do for state security. We reiterate that the federal authorities, particularly the army and us, continue to work together to attack those acts of violence, whether under common or federal jurisdiction,” said the Governor.
For his part, General Salgado Vargas pointed out that developing this culture of peace is one of the goals contained in the National Peace and Security Plan 2018-2024, emphasizing that from day one, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in his character as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, told them that one of the fundamental objectives of his government would be to restore peace and tranquility to the people of Mexico, turning the instruction to guarantee the well-being of the population, supporting security corporations Therefore, with actions like this, they are tangible expressions of the results that are being obtained in this task.
“Having seized a total of 297 short arms, 295 long weapons, 1,377 chargers, and 44,095 cartridges of different calibers in the State of Sinaloa, is the result of the coordinated effort of the public security authorities of the state, federal, and municipal authorities. In reciprocity, we work shoulder to shoulder to ensure the safety of the Sinaloans,” said the Commander of the Ninth Military Zone.
Finally, the civil and military authorities, surrounded by the young students, witnessed the burial of the weapons and their subsequent covering with cement, to render them completely unusable.
This relevant ceremony was attended by Vice Admiral Daniel Escobedo Escobedo, Commander of the Eighth Naval Zone, Enrique Inzunza Cazárez, Secretary General of the Government, Juan de Dios Gámez Mendívil, Municipal President of Culiacán, Sara Bruna Quiñónez Estrada, State Attorney General, Gonzalo Hernández Durazo, Delegate of the Attorney General of the Republic in Sinaloa, Cristóbal Castañeda Camarillo, Secretary of State Public Security and Deputy Ricardo Madrid Pérez, President of the Board of Directors of the State Congress, among other special guests.
