The governor of La Araucanía, Luciano Rivas, referred to the incident that affected the delegation led by the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, when it entered a sector of the Ercilla commune.
In this regard, Rivas acknowledged that “this area of the Araucanía region is an area that is charged with this level of violence.”

“Unfortunately, what Minister Izkia Siches had to live through today is what both farmers in that area and people who pass through that commune live through,” he added.
“When we talk about advancing in security, it is because of this type of group that it is capable of attacking even the minister who goes with the best of intentions to talk to that area,” he said.
According to Rivas, he has never entered Temucuicui due to the acts of violence. “There are still spaces in our region where no one can enter,” he admitted, recalling that a PDI officer died in that same area during an anti-drug operation.
“It is a sector that unfortunately today remains absolutely outside the rule of law in our area,” he criticized.
“The situation is very delicate and we hope that the Government takes the cards in the matter as it corresponds,” he closed.
