Governor of Guayas spoke of a police deficit

The province has experienced intense days. More than 80 violent deaths are recorded so far in 2022.

Of the almost 80 violent deaths recorded in Guayas, 72 have occurred in Guayaquil. 18 deaths in one week, and seven deaths in less than 12 hours.

The governor of the province of Guayas, Pablo Arosemena, has indicated that they have detected that the events “They have to do with drug micro-trafficking.”

In addition, he stated during an interview with Teleamazonas, that there is a police shortage.

“According to the international indicator, four police officers are required for every 1,000 inhabitants. Ecuador has 2.7. It is the equivalent of having two holes in a cork. You cover one, another is uncovered. We need to have more police officers,” said Pablo Arosemena.
