Governor of Florida promulgates changes that affect undocumented

Governor Ron Desantis has promulgated a series of changes that will directly affect the undocumented immigrants of the State.

The changes occur after a controversial special session of the Florida state legislature.

Desantis argues that the changes will make the State safer. “The mere fact of having these policies will deter illegal from coming to Florida, to begin with,” said Desantis.

The changes will deny bail and increase sanctions for undocumented immigrants who commit crimes in Florida.

The new law will also impose the death penalty for undocumented immigrants who are convicted of capital crimes such as murder or sexual abuse of children under 12 years.

Lisette Sánchez’s lawyer specializes in immigration laws and says that changes unfairly point to a segment of society.

“I think this is outrageous because that will mean that an immigrant, who in the eyes of the law should be the same, treated just like any other person, will reach the Court in a situation that could have a greater penalty,” said Sánchez .

More changes are expected to Florida laws that affect immigrants during the regular session of the Florida State Legislature.
