“On the issue of fertilizers, I have said that we are willing to do anything, even here among us, to buy Monomers and expand it significantly. But there are foreign investors who have talked to us about producing fertilizers in Colombia,” indicated the portfolio manager in his speech at the event.
It should be noted that the 29 consecutive months of rains caused by the ‘La Niña’ phenomenon is not the only problem faced by the agricultural sector, but also the high cost of fertilizers that increased due to the war between Russia and Ukraine.

In this matter, Minister Ocampo stated that the increase in these prices has resulted in the cost of coffee production. For his part, Roberto Vélez Vallejo, general manager of the National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC)He explained that the purchase of Monomers sounds familiar to the sector because it would work to regulate the production of fertilizers, but that it is an action that is not feasible in the medium term.
