From next September, the Government will subsidize up to 55% of the payroll of the micro and small businesses (mypes) to promote the hiring and preservation of formal employment of young people, announced the Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE), Betsy Chavez.
In this sense, about S/ 320 million will be injected in order to contribute to the reduction of the problem of labor informality, informed the head of the MTPE.
“The State will subsidize up to a maximum of 55% of the salaries of young people. That is important. The targeting is going to be very careful, because we want to continue recovering employment at the national level, which was lost as a result of the pandemic. The subsidy will be delivered for a maximum of six months per young person hired“, said.

Chavez explained that this maximum percentage of subsidy of 55% will be granted to finance the salaries of young women who are hired for an indefinite term; and, thereby, promote the employment of this traditionally vulnerable population in the labor market.
While the other subsidy percentages are: 45% for women for a fixed term and men for an indefinite term; as well as 35% for men with fixed-term contracts.
The minister argued that this is the new approach that she is giving to her sector: to emphasize support for the female population with higher quality formal contracts. She gave as an example the case of Lurawi Peru (formerly Works Peru) in which of the 100% of beneficiaries, 65% are aimed at women.
