He Government announced that it will invest some 300 million pesos in the repaving of the Eastern Highway and Autopista del Coral, whose work began for a first phase, one kilometer, to Punta Cana.
The information was offered by the Vice Minister of Supervision of State Works, Roberto Herrera, who indicated that the micropaving technique is used that reduces the cost by at least 35 percent.
He stated that the first section from the Coral II toll to Punta Cana has already been contracted, but that the project includes complete paving from San Pedro to Punta Cana.
“We seek to ensure that this track continues to provide service without problems by extending the useful life of the current folder for five or eight more years.”
He indicated that Minister Deligne Ascención and engineers from the construction sector are in Puerto Rico in an activity that has to do with asphalt recycling because the objective is to reduce the costs of the works.

As part of the contribution to improve road safety in the eastern region, the Puntacana Group is building the marginal roundabout next to the airport.
Traffic jams occur in that place and with the new work it is expected that the situation will improve.
Roller trucks and other heavy equipment work on the asphalt of the site. The construction company Alba Sánchez was hired to carry out the work.
