The Vice Minister of Health Insurance and Management of the Unified Health System, Alejandra Hidalgo, reported this Tuesday that it is planned that medical brigades will attend the educational units in the nine departments to immunize children against Covid-19.
He said that vaccination must be promoted in all children and young people in educational units, both public and private, to increase the number of vaccinated because some schools started face-to-face classes and there may be a risk of spreading the virus.
In addition, he indicated that More than 1,200,000 children under 17 years of age have received the first dose of the anticovid vaccine and more than 700,000 have the complete schedule of vaccination, that is, 41.8% of minors in the country are vaccinated with the first dose and 24.6% have already completed their schedule.
Hidalgo pointed out that the directors of health centers close to educational establishments, together with the person in charge of the EPI, must coordinate with the directors of the educational units so that information about the benefits of vaccines can be provided through them and reach school boards to transmit this information and thus obtain permission to vaccinate children and adolescents.
Finally, he indicated that the 91% of teachers already have the first dose against the coronavirus and 85% have already completed the scheme, therefore, the medical brigades and the coordination with the health centers will be used to reach 100% of immunized teachers.
