Government will proceed to de-index increases in products based on the minimum

The Minister of Finance, José Antonio Ocampo, stated this Thursday that among the measures that the National Government will implement to face the high inflationary pressures in the country, “will proceed” to de-index from the minimum wage all the products that rise based on this adjustment.

(There are 66 charges that will no longer rise with the minimum wage).

Ocampo explained that for this, a series of decrees must be issued and some bills processed to implement this measure.

Various products and services such as coverage for health services in traffic accidents, the fee for exploitation rights of new Internet games and the fee for exploitation rights and administration expenses in localized games, are some of the fees that are still indexed. .

There are also the soat rates, the registration tax rate range, the sanction for defects in reserve requirements of credit establishments and the sanctions for the use of sugar as an input in the manufacture of panela. These are some of the services that rise based on the minimum wage.

It should be noted that in the Government of Iván Duque, 66 products were deindexed. For example, it de-indexed from the minimum the cost of reactivating the National Tourism Registry, the service fee of the Foreign Trade Data Bank (Bacex) and the costs of professional advice procedures.

Annual inflation in Colombia is 12.22 with a cutoff of October 2022 and it is estimated that the increase in the minimum wage may be close to 12% or 13%.

According to the Minister, if the initiative is successful, the basic inflation data will be used as a base.
