Bolivian ranchers, merchants and the national government signed an agreement to guarantee the supply of meat in the country and avoid price increases, in addition to prioritizing the distribution of diesel for this sector.
“The National Government has established the Fuel Supply Committee prioritizing the distribution of diesel to the productive sector and in This meeting ratifies the supply to the livestock sector and livestock transportation so that the transfer of live cattle to auction centers, meat processing plants and slaughterhouses can be intensified to increase the supply and slaughter levels of beef,” indicated Néstor Huanca, Minister of Productive Development.
This agreement was signed by the representatives of the National Confederation of Meat Workers of Bolivia (Contracabol), the National Confederation of Livestock Farmers of Bolivia (Congabol), the Federation of Livestock Farmers of Santa Cruz (Fegasacruz), the Federation of Livestock Farmers of Beni (Fegabeni), meat processing companies, auction centers and the Ministries of Productive Development and Plural Economy.
Huanca said that the ranchers of Santa Cruz and Beni committed, once they are supplied with fuel, to guarantee the distribution of meat in the markets of the country to avoid rising prices.
“Congabol, Fegasacruz and Fegabeni will supply live cattle according to diesel demand is supplied and as a consequence the price of live kilogram and hook will be regularized, so Contracabol must reduce the price to the final consumer in equal proportion,” he emphasized.
At the meeting it was also determined to form a commission to analyze beef prices that will be made up of the Vice Ministry of Defense of Users and Consumers, representatives of Congabol and Contracabol, who They will meet every 90 days to guarantee supply of beef at a fair price.
“(The commission) will analyze the different variables that affect the beef price structure and whose reference variables will consider meat processing plants, auction centers and slaughterhouses. The first meeting will be held within 15 working days from this signature,” Minister Huanca stated.
Likewise, Fegasacruz and Fegabeni agreed to support social control to assist in the fight against contraband smuggling in order to avoid the rise in the price of meat.
