The Secretariat of the Presidency convened the meeting to be held this Monday, confirmed the Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP), Fernando Mattos, to The Observer. However, he will not be part: the meeting is at the level of the undersecretaries of various ministries, the Secretariat of the Presidency and the National Emergency System (Sinae), explained Vice Minister Ignacio Buffa.
Mattos will be present at Tuesday’s instance, since that meeting was summoned by the MGAP. The Agricultural Emergency Commission (a work team where the Ministry of Economy and Finance —MEF— and the Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology —Inumet— advise the MGAP) will meet there to decide whether to continue agricultural emergency.
In this sense, Buffa expressed that, because the indicators “sharpened” there is a “99.9% possibility” for this measure to continue; “It will be a fact,” he emphasized. Likewise, this commission will evaluate “what other measures” can be taken to deal with this situation.
On the other hand, the meeting on Monday will include the agricultural emergency, indicated the Undersecretary of Livestock, although this is “one of the issues.” “This meeting is broader because it has more actors and it covers the emergency in general,” Buffa said.
That is, it is the “same theme at different levels”clarified the hierarch.
