Gobierno aumentará 25% salario a de médicos

Santo Domingo.-The Government Dominican and the Dominican Medical College (CMD) reached a salary agreement this Saturday for a 25% gradual increase that begins this January with the application of 10%.

The increase covers doctors from the National Health Service (SNS), Ministry of Public HealthSelf-Managed Hospitals, 911 and the National Council for the Aging (Conape), Medical Auditors, who are performing healthcare functions regardless of the number of appointments as healthcare physicians they hold.

The agreement was signed this Saturday by the vice president of the Republic and president of the Health Cabinet, Raquel Penaand for the president of the CMD, Waldo Ariel Sueroin a meeting that included the participation of the titular members of the aforementioned cabinet and the other members of the board of directors of the doctors’ guild.

This pact is the result of the permanent dialogue promoted by the current State administration to listen to the demands of this sector to act in favor of raising the quality of the health service that each citizen receives and guaranteeing increasingly dignified working conditions. The pact was sealed in the Green Room of the National Palace.

Last Thursday, a commission of the National Board of Directors of the CMD, headed by its president, Dr. Waldo Ariel Suero, and 13 members, occupied the offices of the SNS and declared a hunger strike demanding a salary increase for doctors.

The agreement was signed this Saturday by the vice president of the Republic and president of the Health Cabinet, Raquel Penaand for the president of the CMD, Waldo Ariel Suero

“We are not going to leave this institution until we obtain a satisfactory response from Dr. Mario Lama,” was the position of the CMD and what caused the meeting that took place yesterday where the salary agreement was sealed.

Dr. Suero said that the extreme measure responds to the failure to comply with the agreements signed between the union and the government, specifically with the President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña, since the agreement did not include salary leveling, but rather a general increase for all doctors, regardless of their current salary.

“A group stayed in the parking area and a lieutenant from the Presidential Guard went there to also take them out onto the street. “They can’t be there if the boss passes by, they’re going to call my attention,” the officer told the journalists who stayed in the parking lot.
