He Government has implemented a new measure that allows the use of laundered money for the purchase of a wide range of consumer goods, including cell phones, electronics, cars and other products.
This initiative of the Governmentformalized through Resolution 279/2024 of the Secretariat of Commerce and Industry of the Ministry of Economy, has as its main objective to reinsert regularized funds into the formal circuit of the economy and promote domestic consumption.
Money laundering is a mechanism that allows taxpayers to declare funds not previously registered, regularizing their tax situation. In this case, the Government has decided to expand the possible destinations for these funds, allowing their use in the acquisition of durable consumer goods and other products.
The measure seeks not only to increase consumption, but also to encourage productive investment in various sectors of the economy. The list of goods that can be purchased with laundered money is extensive and includes: Automobiles and motorcycles of any type, including pick-ups. Household appliances: washing machines, televisions, and other durable consumer goods.
Technology: Cell phones, computers, stations, antennas, routers, chips, and monitors. Machinery: Agricultural, road, construction, and general industry. Power tools: Pumps, compressors, generator sets, and other measuring instruments. Special vehicles: Cargo ships and other specific vehicles.
To facilitate these purchases, the Ministry of Economy has established that regularized funds can be transferred from a Special Account for Asset Regularization (CERA) to any other type of account, without the latter needing to also be a CERA.
