Government welcomes peace agreement between the Colombian Government and the ELN

Through a statement released this Saturday by the Ministry for Foreign Relations, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, on behalf of the Venezuelan people and government, highlighted the commitment to peace that the Government of the Republic of Colombia and the National Liberation Army (ELN)during the extraordinary meeting of the dialogues, held in Caracas.

Also the president Maduro ratified the commitment of the Bolivarian Governmentto faithfully fulfill the role of guarantor based on trust, solidarity, neutrality and respect for the negotiation process, which is essential for the brother Colombian people.

The Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Venezuelan People and Government, deeply appreciates the commitment to peace shown by the Government of the Republic of Colombia and the National Liberation Army (ELN), in the extraordinary meeting of Dialogues for Peace, held in the city of Caracas.

We appreciate the high level of openness, sincerity, political will and transparency of the parties, with a view to overcoming the differences recently presented and which were dealt with in this extraordinary meeting.

We welcome the sovereign decision of the parties regarding respect and faithful compliance with the agreements reached, which contributes to the strengthening of the dialogue table.

We ratify to the parties the commitment of our government to faithfully fulfill the role of Guarantor based on trust, solidarity, neutrality and respect for the negotiation process, which is essential for the brotherly people of Colombia.
