The president of the Brazilian Hospital Services Company (Ebserh), Arthur Chioro, highlighted This Monday (15) that One of the priorities of the federal government is to increase the care in the country’s university hospitals by 40%. 
In an interview with the program The Voice of BrazilChioro said that There is a forecast of delivery of 13 new units by the end of 2026.
“In many places in the country, it is only in university hospitals that we have certain experts and procedures, so their importance in supporting SUS,” explained the doctor.
Last Saturday (13), was held the second effort of care of the EBSERH network to reduce the waiting time in the line of the Unified Health System (SUS). The task force was attended by 45 hospitals from the network and about 5,000 professionals in 24 states and the Federal District.
In total, 34,000 calls were made, above the 12,000 of the first edition, in July. University hospitals defined priorities according to local demand. In this way, ophthalmic, orthopedics or cancer patients were performed.
The action is within the program now has specialists, through a partnership of the Ministries of Education, with EBSERH, and Health. The company is responsible for managing federal university hospitals.
A new task force should take place later this year, scheduled for December 13.
The population can seek care through the basic health units, which will direct to hospitals. Patients with university hospitals will also be treated and have not yet been welcomed in previous joint efforts.
