government vs. Fedegán: the hectares that generate 'clashes' between the two

The process for the purchase of land by the Government to Fedegan was agitated after the president Gustavo Petro He stated that the acquisition of land as part of the agrarian reform should be expedited because “it is for now and not for 20 years from now”, a statement that led the parties to present their updated figures.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of January 31 of this year, there are a total of 1.9 million hectares offered for purchase. Of these, 499 properties, totaling 247,000 hectares (ha) throughout the country, belong to Fedegán. In other words, they are 12% of the total offer.

The portfolio confirmed that 54,149 hectares of these lands have passed the filters and are in a state of technical and legal predictability at the national level.

It should be noted that the Minister of Agriculture, Cecilia López, in an interview with Portafolio, stated that all the land available for offer has to be reviewedtaking into account that it has to be validated that it has not been paramilitary land or vacant land and thus determine transparency to proceed with the determination of prices” said.

Other figures provided by the agricultural ministry refer to the supply of ranchers in the Caribbean region and Magdalena Medio, a sector where the Government plans to prioritize the purchase of land. According to the Ministry, Currently there are 148 properties that add up to a total of 11,196 hectares, however, of these lands, 3,563 hectares have passed the filters demanded by the Ministry.

(Further: Petro assures that peace will be achieved if the agrarian reform is achieved).

On the other hand, the portfolio together with the National Land Agency (ANT) will announce in the coming weeks the purchase of 25 properties, which total 3,600 hectares. It should be noted that this purchase comes from bidders that are not part of the Fedegán agreement.

(We recommend: This is how the ‘cake’ of the addition to the National Budget would be distributed).

According to data from the cattle guild, there is currently an offer of 502 properties that add up to a total of 303,964 hectares, which are in the feasibility qualification process. However, they assure that 349 ranchers have made offers directly to the ANT, “in an amount that the Agency has not revealed, which allows us to estimate, however, that the basket of offers can easily reach 400,000 hectares,” they affirm. .

Likewise, in the breakdown by departments It is estimated that of the national total of land offered by ranchers in Arauca there are 153,799 hectares of extension in 31 properties. Next is the department of Meta with 55,603 ha divided into 23 offers, while in Vichada there are already 18,568 ha in 16 properties.
