Uypress -The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed, through a statement, “it would be concern” in the face of the interception of the Israeli Navy to the Sumud Global Solidarity Fleet, composed of more than 40 vessels and about 500 volunteers -among them three Uruguayans -, which took help to Gaza.
He also reported that he has closely followed the situation and that he has maintained contact with the three Uruguayans who are part of the initiative, with some of his relatives, “in order to guarantee the corresponding diplomatic and consular protection.”
Within that framework, the Uruguayan government urged Israel “to respect the physical integrity and safety of the members of this initiative” and reiterated the call to respect “international humanitarian law.”
The Frente Amplio also spoke and expressed his “solidarity with the Global Sumud Flotilla”, while advocating “once again for the high on the immediate fire, the end of genocide and the immediate installation of a humanitarian corridor.”
Likewise, the political force reiterated its “demand for return of the hostages kidnapped by the Hamas terrorist organization.” “As a peaceful and pacifying political force, we pronounce each other once again for peace and respect for international law,” he said.
Meanwhile, the PIT-CNT Executive Secretariat issued a statement on Wednesday in which it condemned “this new abuse of international law”, while ratifying “its absolute rejection of the genocide ongoing against the Palestinian people.”
“The blockade of humanitarian aid aimed at a population undergoing an extermination policy is a very serious crime that must be integrated into the long list of crimes against humanity committed by the state of Israel,” said the union center.
In addition, he claimed the Uruguayan government “to activate all the mechanisms at their disposal to demand the immediate release of all the members of the flotilla and, in that context, ensure the integrity of the Uruguayan citizens who are part.”
