Through a supreme resolution of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the government terminated the functions of Peter Abad Altamirano as head of the Council of Ministers. National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).
Likewise, through another provision that bears the signature of the president Dina Boluarte and the endorsement of the prime minister, Gustavo AdrianzenGaspar Humberto Morán Flores is appointed as the new head of the entity.
Abad, it is recalled, took over the position last April. Until before this provision, he served as deputy head of Statistics at the INEI.

It should be remembered that just a month after assuming the interim leadership of the INEI, he was involved in an impasse with the government of Dina Boluarte.
It happened on May 9, after a session of the Council of Ministers in which the results of the 2023 Monetary Poverty Report were reviewed.
After the meeting, the INEI reported that the publication of the document was rescheduled “for reasons of force majeure.”
Days later, Abad confirmed that the postponement was due to an express provision of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. In addition, the official apologized to all citizens who waited for the event.
The new head of the INEI, Gaspar Morán Flores, meanwhile, has a master’s degree in Environmental Management and Audits from the University of Piura and a master’s degree in Management in Statistics and Informatics from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. Until his appointment, he served as technical director of Administration of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics.
