The Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency (Segpres), George Jacksonreported this Tuesday afternoon that the Government submitted to Congress a new request to extend the State of Exception in the provinces of Biobío and Arauco, in the Biobío region, and in the entire region of La Araucanía.
From the Senate, the head of the Segpres specified that Congress will vote tomorrow, Wednesday, on the extension of the State of Exception.

Regarding a possible State of Exception for the Los Ríos region, he pointed out that this will be reported by the Ministries of the Interior and Defense on Thursday, after their weekly meeting in which they evaluate the measure.
In turn, he pointed out that in the event that the State of Exception is applied in Los Ríos, this will be done through a new decree. “A territorial extension by definition requires a new decree, that is why those details regarding this matter will be delivered on Thursday,” said Jackson.
Both the President Gabriel Boric as the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Sichesdid not rule out the application of the measure in Los Ríos.
“This Thursday we will have a new evaluation of this measure, and we will make the respective announcements,” Siches said on Tuesday.
For his part, the regional governor of Los Ríos, Louis Cuvertinopractically confirmed that the Government will use the State of Exception in the area.
“In the conversation today with the minister, directly, she has indicated to us that they are advancing in that determination and that it is very possible that the Los Ríos region has it. And only today would consultations be made if it is general or if it is bounded,” Cuvertino said.
“Most likely, in the next few days, the State of Exception will be decreed for the region or part of Los Ríos,” said the governor.
