Government seizes smuggled goods worth 320 million pesos

“This is the largest seizure that has been made, among the products are perfumes, toys, electronics, textiles and food (…) the SAT determined that these did not prove their legal stay in the country,” explained the Secretary of Economy. , Marcelo Ebrard, at a press conference.

The seized merchandise originated in countries such as Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Malaysia and Vietnam.

These products did not have labels in Spanish, they were misleading miracle products, they were expired, they did not have a health record – violating the health regulations – of foreign trade, intellectual and industrial property.

The official stressed that they will continue this type of actions in conjunction with the state governments, especially those on the northern border, where they detect that this type of merchandise enters the most.

He specified that as a result of these operations, seven customs licenses were deregistered, while 40 are being investigated, out of a total of 872 agencies.
