The Government defended the RNT draft and assured that it does not seek to affect platforms such as Airbnb, but rather to strengthen formality and security.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism responded to criticism for the draft decree that adjusts the National Tourism Registry (RNT).
The Government indicates that the objective is not to regulate nor limit platforms like Airbnb, but to ensure that all people and companies that offer accommodation comply with clear rules, operate formally and under security and transparency standards.
He assures that from the beginning there has been maintained a dialogue process with unions, businessmen, hosts and platformsdigital, and that the technical tables remain open to receive observations and perfect the regulation.

Paula Cortés, president of Anato, stated that the tourism unions have worked hand in hand with the Ministry to reduce informality. He explained that the decree seeks interoperability of the RNT with chambers of commerce and authorities, facilitating the identification of tour operators and ensuring that they comply with all standards. He pointed out, “that the platforms are not intended to disappear, but rather that they be regulated thinking about safety, quality and equal conditions, as happens in other countries,” said Cortés.
The Government and the unions agree that Regulation must consolidate formal tourism, safe and competitive, strengthening activity throughout the country and ensuring equitable conditions for all tourism service providers.

The FM knew the draft of the decree with which the Ministry of Commerce could leave for off to platforms like Airbnb since December 18. The document demands new requirements for the National Tourism Registry, such as land use, Firefighter certifications and health concepts that many municipalities cannot issue.
