The government of Nicolas Maduro reported that there have been 103 prisoner releases due to post-election protests between December 10 and 12.

In a statement this Thursday the 12th, the sectoral vice presidency for Citizen Security and Peace indicated that the releases of political prisoners are in addition to the 225 precautionary measures granted on November 26. However, of those 225 measures all the corresponding releases could never be confirmed, beyond the official word. Until December 6, organizations such as the Penal Forum have only been able to verify 169, including 27 adolescents.

According to the government, “such measures are carried out in response to the request made by President Nicolás Maduro to the bodies of the justice system to review all cases concerning acts of violence and crimes committed within the framework of the July 28 election. , promoted by fascist and extremist sectors at the national and international level that seek to disturb the peace of Venezuela.

The Venezuelan Prison Observatory (OVP) confirmed the release of a group of 11 people, including four teenagers, from detention centers in Caracas and the state of Miranda on the night of Wednesday, December 11.

Through its social networks, the OVP indicated that the teenagers Ángel Ramírez, Frenyermi Lara, Daiber Lucena and Yenderson Martínez left Justice Center 432 of El Cementerio with precautionary measures, leaving four others detained in that detention center for minors.

These releases occur at a time when state security forces have detained at least five people in the last 24 hours: Three leaders of the Bolívar state, linked to Vente Venezuela and Voluntad Popular; the former councilor Jesus Armas and the mayor of Cabimas, Nabil Maalouf.
