Caracas leads cases of community transmission by covid-19

Government reported 83 new cases of covid-19 this #9Dec: Caracas led the list

Through his Twitter account, the Minister of Information, Freddy Ñáñez, indicated that 54 of the covid-19 cases were “importing.” There were no deaths due to the disease on the day.


83 new cases of covid-19 in Venezuela, the government of Nicolás Maduro reported on the night of Friday, December 9; informed the Minister of Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez, through his Twitter account, where he identifies himself as Alfred Nazareth.

“Today we do not report deaths in our country, we maintain the figure of 5,829 throughout the national territory,” he said.

The official explained that, of those 83 cases, 54 community cases and 29 “imported”. Regarding the first discrimination, he clarified that they are located in: Caracas (20) and the states of Miranda (20), La Guaira (3), Sucre, Bolívar and Guárico with two in each state and Lara, Aragua, Yaracuy, Zulia and Anzoátegui with one in each state.

The cases in the Capital District (Caracas) are found in 11 of its 22 parishes: Sucre (5), La Candelaria (3), Santa Teresa (3), 23 de Enero (2), and Altagracia (1).

While in the case of the “imported” he explained that all entered through Vargas (now La Guaira): seven from the Dominican Republic; 17 from Panama; three from Türkye and two from Cuba.

“To date we have 743 patients who are asymptomatic, 218 with mild acute respiratory failure, 91 with moderate acute respiratory failure and 59 in the Intensive Care Unit,” said Alfred Nazareth.

According to government figures, since the arrival of the pandemic in Venezuela, in March 2020; A total of “548,233 confirmed cases, 1,111 active cases and 541,293 people recovered (representing 99% of infections) have been registered,” said the official.
