The Ministry of Regional Development (MDR) announced, this Thursday (10), the transfer of another R$ 1.7 million for civil defense actions in 14 Brazilian cities affected by natural disasters.
In Rio Grande do Sul, the largest investment, of R$ 361.4 thousand, will be allocated to the municipality of Caibaté for the purchase of food baskets, fuel and mobile tank for water trucks. The region suffers from severe drought.
The city of Novo Tiradentes in Rio Grande do Sul will receive R$ 252.7 thousand for the purchase of basic food baskets and a mobile reservoir with a motor pump, in addition to the rental of a water truck. The municipality of Nova Esperança do Sul, in the same state, had two ordinances with the release of resources published. In all, the city will receive R$ 227,200 for the purchase of food and fuel baskets.
In the list of cities in Rio Grande do Sul benefiting from federal funds, there are also Unistalda (R$ 147.6 thousand), Engenho Velho (R$ 144.6 thousand) and Vera Cruz (R$ 120 thousand). The funds will be used to purchase drinking water reservoirs and other items.
Still in Rio Grande do Sul, the municipality of Barra do Rio Azul will receive R$ 66,500. Bom Retiro do Sul, with R$ 38 thousand; Ibirapuitã, with R$ 21,800, and Barão, with R$ 18,000 complete the list of cities benefited.
In Santa Catarina, the MDR will invest BRL 102,300 in Campos Novos and BRL 60,000 in Paraíso for actions to respond to the effects of the drought.

Ordinances were also published with the release of funds for Cícero Dantas, in Bahia, who will receive R$ 130 thousand, and Riacho dos Machados, in Minas Gerais, which will receive R$ 22.5 thousand. The two cities were hit by heavy rains and will use the transfers to buy food baskets.

With the transfer made this Thursday, the federal government reports having released, throughout the week, the amount of R$ 31.5 million for actions in response to natural disasters.
After granting emergency status by the National Civil Defense, municipalities affected by disasters are able to request resources from the MDR to assist the affected population. Actions involve restoring essential services and rebuilding damaged infrastructure equipment.
According to the folder, the request must be made through the Integrated Disaster Information System (S2ID). Based on the information sent, the National Civil Defense technical team evaluates the goals and requested values. Upon approval, an ordinance is published in the DOU specifying the amount to be released.
Credit lines
The MDR should also announce the creation of specific lines of credit for entrepreneurs in urban activities and rural producers affected by the heavy rains that hit cities within the area of operation of the Superintendence for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene), which includes the nine states of the Region and the north of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo.
Conditions for the extension of credit operations, both urban and rural, that have been affected by excessive rains, will also be disclosed.
