The National Youth Secretary, Ronald Luiz, invited public policy managers from Brazilian states and municipalities to collaborate with the consolidation of national youth policies in Brazil. During the National Seminar of Youth Managers, held in Brasília (DF), Ronald Luiz explained the importance of the return of the National Youth Secretariat (SNJ) to the Planalto Palace with the new structure of the Esplanada dos Ministérios.
“I make a call to you: what kind of youth policies do we want and what are the goals and objectives that we need to reach, so that the national youth policy is complete for everyone? Youth face the highest unemployment rates of our history”, exemplified the secretary. According to him, different SNJ programs were interrupted, discontinued or had a drop in performance, such as ID Jovem, a free document that allows low-income young people to access benefits guaranteed by the Youth Statute – and which would have the capacity to serve 18 million people, but currently only covers 430,000 young people.
“Unfortunately we are going to enter the framework of the celebration of the 10 years of the Youth Statute [instituído em agosto de 2013] not much to celebrate. We haven’t made any progress at all in terms of all the rights listed there, if we haven’t regressed”, he said, inviting those present to commit themselves to a common strategy for the development of youth policies.
“We need to reflect because the rate of white young people murdered is reduced in our country, but the rate of young black people continues to grow. Does this mean that we are bad and put ourselves in spaces of violence or that it is a structural problem?”, he questioned.
Representing the Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, Márcio Macêdo, the executive secretary Maria Fernanda Coelho reinforced the commitment of the Executive Power to implement the public policies necessary for the next youth cycle.
“We are responsible for social participation. And we know that this mobilization fundamentally involves the mobilization of youth”, he said. “Count on our ministry and count on the prospect of resuming the budget, because the issue of the public budget is fundamental for these policies to take place”, concluded the executive secretary.
Seminar
Sponsored by the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, to which the SNJ is subordinate, the National Seminar of Youth Managers began this Thursday (30), World Youth Day, and should gather around 200 people by tomorrow (31).
The event symbolizes the government’s resumption of dialogue with actors from all segments involved with the theme and marks the return of SNJ as a gateway to social participation in public policies for the sector.
Before the secretaries spoke, the managers were introduced to two projects aimed at training for the market and the health of young people: Co.liga and Agenda Jovem, by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), respectively.
