With the Paraná highway auction which was held on the afternoon of this Thursday (23) at the headquarters of B3, in the capital of São Paulo, Brazil reached the sum of R$ 200 billion in highway concessions granted by the current government. The statement was made by the Minister of Transport, Renan Filho.
“With today’s auction, we reach the mark of R$200 billion in private investments contracted in Brazil in this auction cycle. It is something very significant, because the country had held 24 auctions from the beginning of the concession program back in 1998 until the year 2022. And now, at the end of this year, we will end the year with 22 auctions and we will hold another 14 next year”, he stated.
According to the minister, the value of highway auctions represents the majority of private investments already contracted by the current government.
“In total, R$300 billion has already been contracted in all types of auctions: ports, airports, even forests, because now forest conservation is also being auctioned. Of this total R$300 billion, the Ministry of Transport today completes R$200 billion, which corresponds to two thirds of this investment attraction agenda”, he told journalists.
Since 2023, the federal government has held 18 highway auctions and four more are planned by the end of this year. The next one, from lot 5 of the Integrated Highways of Paraná, takes place next Thursday (30).
“This will be the sixth auction in the state of Paraná. And we also have the auction for the Central-West. The last auction of the year will be for Fernão Dias, BR 381, which connects Belo Horizonte to São Paulo. It is a very bold set of auctions that is boosting private investment in our infrastructure”, said the minister.

According to the minister, highway auctions have been very competitive, attracting a variety of competitors.
“These 18 auctions had 14 different victorious companies, always demonstrating new entrants and competition that brings down prices. The other thing that demonstrates competition is the drop in price. Today’s auction placed the rates that will now be charged in this new contract 52% lower than the rates charged previously, if they were updated for inflation. In other words, the people of Paraná are getting a good product today at much better prices than they paid in the past”, he highlighted.

This afternoon, the minister attended the auction for lot 4 of Rodovias Integradas do Paraná, which was won by Consórcio Infraestrutura PR (composed of EPR and Perfin Voyager Fundo de Investimento), which offered a 21.30% discount on the fare price. It competed with three other companies: Motiva (formerly CCR), Mota-Engil and Reune Rodovias Holding.
According to the governor of Paraná, Ratinho Junior, who was also present at B3, today’s event was a success.
“Today is a very important week for the state. Yesterday we had the concession of the arrival channel in Port of Paranaguáwhich was the first in Brazil. It was a success. And today another success in our road concession lot, which was the fifth among six lots that were programmed in this partnership between the federal government and the state government”, he told journalists. “These six lots are the largest road concession package in Latin America”, he highlighted.
