The national government resolved to end the health emergency that was declared on March 13, 2020 on the occasion of the pandemic by covid-19. This was announced on his personal Twitter account by the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou.

This Monday the government, represented by Lacalle himself and the Minister of Public Health, Daniel Salinas and the Undersecretary of said portfolio, José Luis Satdjian, met to analyze the health emergency.

The announcement was made by the president through his Twitter account.

“In a meeting with the minister @DrDanielSalinas and the undersecretary @JoseSatdjian, based on the information received regarding COVID 19, we have decided to lift the health emergency. We are going to sign the corresponding decree in the next few days”, he communicated.

In this way, Uruguay becomes the first country in the region to lift the health emergency.

In March of last year, two years ago, the government established this measure, which was accompanied by others. With the passage of time and the improvement of the health situation, these provisions were regulated and gradually lifted.

In the absence of more information, it remains to be seen what will happen to certain measures, such as the imposition of some health protocols and the operation of the Coronavirus Fund.
