The National Simple Language Policy comes into force this Monday (17th). THE Law No. 15,263/2025 determines that the communication of Union powers, aimed at the population, be made in a “clear, direct and accessible” way, in order to strengthen the right to information and social participation.
According to the proposal, direct and indirect public administration bodies must adopt, in their communications, procedures for the objective transmission of information, with simple language techniques in the writing of targeted texts, so that the words, structure and layout (layout) of the message allow citizens to easily find the information, understand it and use it.
Among the procedures are the adoption of writing sentences in direct order, short sentences; the use of common, easy-to-understand words; the use of synonyms for technical terms and jargon or explaining them in the text itself; avoid using foreign words that are not in common use and do not use pejorative terms, among others.
According to Planalto, the new legislation represents a historic advance in the relationship between State and society, by placing the understanding of citizens at the center of public policies, including people with disabilities and traditional communities.
The law defines standards that all public bodies and entities must follow when writing communications, forms, guidelines, service portals and any other content aimed at the population.
“The objective is to ensure that anyone can find the information they need, understand what is being communicated and use this information to resolve their demand,” he added.
