Government publishes criteria for universal access to the internet in education

THE Official Diary of the Union de today (28) publishes a decree that regulates and establishes criteria for the automatic transfer of resources to the federative units, with the objective of guaranteeing access to the internet “for educational purposes” to students and teachers of public basic education.Government publishes criteria for universal access to the internet in education

By regulating the Law No. 14,172published in June 2021, decree no.

The transfer, made in a single installment of R$ 3.5 billion to the states and the Federal District, is a financial support, given due to the public calamity resulting from the pandemic, in order to, in collaboration with the municipalities, “provide equity in the universalization of education”.

The decree presents some guidelines for the application of these resources and describes how the transfers will be operationalized and the deadlines.

If the resources (and the income obtained from their application) are not invested, the remaining balances must be returned to the National Treasury Single Account through the issuance and payment of a Federal Collection Guide.

The decree also presents annexes that will serve as a model for the presentation of the final management report.
