The second flight with Brazilians deported by the United States arrived last night (8) at Belo Horizonte International Airport, in Confins. Before arriving in Brazil, the flight made a technical scale in Puerto Rico. The first stop in the national territory was in Fortaleza, in the afternoon, where some of the passengers chose to disembark. Of the 111 repatriades, 88 followed on a plane from the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) to Minas Gerais.
Employees of the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship (MDHC), under the leadership of Minister Macaé Evaristo, received the deported.
“It is very important, who can, talk to our team to bring some information that helps us in this negotiation to improve the flight condition of these people who are returning to Brazil,” said the minister during a reception in Confins. We will be able to make this process less painful and more humanized.
According to Ana Maria Gomes Raietparvar, from the General Coordination for the Promotion of the Rights of Migrant, Refugee and Aparid Persons, the reception of the repatriads left the Brazilians relieved already at the first stop in Fortaleza.
“The service was very good, considering that it was the first time that Ceará received repatriates. We had huge support, we did a humanitarian reception, and people, when they saw us, were relieved. Some arrived ashamed, but when they saw what the reception would be like, they relaxed a lot, ”he said.
A working group (WG) formed by representatives of the Brazilian government and the US government (USA) monitored the flight. Five hours before arrival in Brazil, the US government made available the list with the quantity and profile of repatriads. There were no passenger records on the alert of Interpol.
According to the Federal Police, most repatriates are young: eight people are up to 10 years old; 11 are between 11 and 20 years old; 38 are between 21 and 30 years old; and 33 are in the age group of 31 to 40 years. Only 17 are between 41 and 50 years old and four are 51 years or older, being the oldest in the group at 53 years old.
The group has 85 men, of which 71 were unaccompanied. Only 26 are women, of which 12 were unaccompanied. About 25% (28 people) of the group came in a family nucleus.
The Authorities Room at Belo Horizonte International Airport, in Confins, was transformed into a host post to the repatriads. The structure also includes access to water, food, power points, internet and bathroom.
On site, channels were made available so that repatriaries can contact family members and obtain guidance on public health, social and work services, vaccination regularization and teaching registration.
