This Thursday, the president of the National Assembly and member of the high-level commission for the release of President Nicolás Maduro and the first lady Cilia Flores, deputy Jorge Rodríguez, explained that this decision responds to the “unwavering effort to consolidate the peace of the Republic and peaceful coexistence between all, without distinction of political, economic, religious and social overtones.”
In the current scenario that the country is experiencing, after the United States military attack on Venezuela and the kidnapping of the presidential couple, Jorge Rodríguez explained that the decision also seeks to “contribute to the effort that we all must make for national unity.”
“Consider this gesture of the Bolivarian Government, with a broad intention to search for peace, as the contribution that all of us must make to ensure that our Republic continues its peaceful life and in search of prosperity,” he said.
The president of Parliament thanked those who have always been at Venezuela’s side in the defense of peace and sovereignty.
“We thank former President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, who for 10 years has been adding all his capabilities to work together for national coexistence,” as well as President Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva, the Government of the Kingdom of Qatar and, especially, the State institutions that heeded the call of the acting president Delcy Rodríguez, Jorge Rodríguez added.
