Beatriz Denis, daughter of Óscar Denis, former Vice President of the Republic, kidnapped in September 2020, issued a manifesto and a call from the seat her father occupied in the Senate. This, in remembrance of the 700 days of captivity that her father served on that date.
“We ask for a State policy that prioritizes the return of the hostages so that no other Paraguayan can go through this situation. We continue to receive only excuses, we communicate with the United Nations and receive their solidarity. The UN mentioned their concern to President Abdo but dad is still not with us. Last year we saw Edelio turn 2,500 days old, dad turns 700 days old, how do you deal with so much impotence? ”, He expressed.
Beatriz Denis questioned that in June 2021, the Government affirmed that there was only a “sensation of insecurity”, but Óscar Denis still has not returned to his family. “A year ago the EPP brought Paraguayan families into mourning again, three soldiers assassinated, the same terror that has destroyed the lives of hundreds of compatriots. Almost two years after the kidnapping, everything remains the same. The government prioritizes government policy over the safety of the population,” she noted.
The other two people who remain in captivity besides Denis are Edelio Morínigo, kidnapped on June 5, 2014, and Félix Urbieta, in captivity since October 13, 2016.
