Government presents action plan in defense of indigenous children

Government of Minas opens public consultation on highway concession

Today (19) the federal government presented the Action Plan for the Defense of the Rights of Indigenous Children and Youth to indigenous leaders. The meeting between the government and indigenous people took place in Roraima, with the presence of the Minister of Women, Family and Human Rights, Cristiane Britto.

“This plan is being built with a lot of dialogue with the community and local managers, who really know the reality of the population. It is a special look from our government to those who represent the future, children and young people”, said the minister.

According to the government, the plan has 38 actions divided into four axes: training and diagnostics; practical actions (to reduce violence); regulatory reviews and bills; and social mobilization and participation. The document should initially be implemented in indigenous communities in the states of Mato Grosso (Xavante), Mato Grosso do Sul (Dourados-Guarani Kaiowá) and Roraima (Yanomami).

The plan was prepared by the Working Group (WG) on Vulnerable Indigenous Children and Youth, established by the ministry. WG members who followed the agenda discussed future partnerships to strengthen coping with situations of vulnerability in villages located in the municipalities of Caracaraí (RR), Alto Alegre (RR), Amajarí (RR), Boa Vista, Mucajaí (RR) and Iracema ( RR).
