The Government presented the key points that will be taken into account to the country’s energy transition
This strategy seeks to “ensure the country’s energy sovereignty, democratic access to energy and clear actions to address climate change.”
In accordance with the Ministry of Minesthis transition will be gradual and will have five fundamental axes: Greater investments in clean energy and decarbonization, progressive substitution of demand for fossil fuels, greater energy efficiency, review and eventual relaxation of regulations to accelerate the generation of clean energy and the reindustrialization of the Colombian economy.

“The times of the energy transition will depend on the results of these axes, in such a way that progress is made in conjunction with the export transitionwith a more diversified economy, less dependent on oil and coal, and at the same time with fiscal and macroeconomic sustainability,” the ministry said.
The strategy presented by the Government includes, among other aspects, the encouragement of the diversification of the export basket “with an emphasis on in agro-industry, in manufactured products and in the transformation of the model of export of primary energy resources to intermediate and end-use products”.
In addition, the Government insists on providing to tourism to make Colombia one of the main tourist centers in the region.
It is also planned to continue with the gradual elimination of subsidies for the consumption of liquid fossil fuels, as well as continue with exploration and exploitation of liquid fuels and gaspromoting the self-sufficiency of the energy matrix.
In addition to favoring the exploration, production and industrialization of critical minerals (for example, copper, cobalt and lithium) and in the same way to continue advancing in a mining-energy production with carbon neutrality.

“The technical teams of the ministries ofe Mines and Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism and Finance and Public Creditamong other institutions, will permanently evaluate the evolution of these aspects, ”says the Government.
Next May, for example, will be presented the Reserves Report of the National Hydrocarbons Agencya key source of information for public policy decisions.
This balance will give a complete vision of the contractss of exploration and its effects on oil production and exports and on gas production.
