One of his proposals, in turn, is a questionnaire for the Icfes where the emotional needs of the students are evaluated. “School coexistence has deep social determinants. The violence of our society is reflected in schools,” said the minister.
The Icfes, together with this, announced that it would be a primer that would begin to be implemented from 2023. It is important to take into account that It is not a new test but a survey that seeks to identify the needs in educational institutions.
“In terms of social and emotional development, emotional health, and also of the risk and protective factors in the more immediate and broader context that promote, support, and constrain that development and that health of students”, the director of Icfes, Andrés Molano, told Blu Radio.

Likewise, he clarified that a score is not sought but to create protection risk profiles of the institutions to identify which are the greatest emotional risksthe existing protection factors and how to target them.
“Rather, it is a survey of students’ school well-being, emotional health, and development of social and emotional skills.Molano added.
Other strategies proposed by the Ministry of Education is the training of teachers in the matter of coexistencevolunteering promoting the development of socio-emotional skills, promoting the operation of the School Coexistence Committees and more resources for counselors.
“Schools and colleges in Colombia have to be protective environments. Places where children and adolescents feel protected“, pointed out Minister Gaviria.
