Government plans to increase production of natural gas liquids

The president of PDVSA, Héctor Obregón, indicated that after the technical inspection at a plant located in Anzoátegui, it was contemplated to increase the production of liquefied petroleum gas.


The government is evaluating increasing the production of natural gas liquids, after a technical inspection at a Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) plant, located in the northeast of the country, the president of the state company, Héctor Obregón, reported this Friday, December 6.

Through a publication on Telegram, Obregón indicated that the technical inspection served to review the operational processes at the José Antonio Anzoátegui fractionation and dispatch plant, which also contemplated increasing the production of liquefied petroleum gas.

He said that the joint work of the subsidiaries of the state oil company PDVSA and the management teams in charge of the gas sector in the northeastern region of the nation guarantees the “full operation of the capacities of these facilities” with the objective, he highlighted, of “converting to Venezuela in a natural gas exporting country.

In October, the executive vice president and Minister of Petroleum, Delcy Rodríguez, reported on the arrival of a ship that will allow the updating of data for the development of gas productionin the state of Sucre, as part of an agreement signed with Trinidad and Tobago.

The official maintained that, with this agreement, Venezuela continues to advance “firmly” in the “strategic” plan of “developing the potential of its gas belt, giving a clear opportunity to foreign investment.”

The agreement “authorization for fiscal mediation of the production of the Dragon Field”, for the exploitation and export of gas in the Gulf of Paria – whose waters and coasts are shared by both countries – with the help of the British Shell, was signed in December from last year.

PDVSA then explained that the license granted to Trinidad and Tobago is valid for three decades and establishes production, in “a first phase,” of 185 million cubic feet per day.
