With the drop in epidemiological indicators referring to the covid-19 pandemic, the Rio de Janeiro State Health Department (SES-RJ) announced that it will no longer update data on weekends and holidays. Case and death numbers and bed occupancy rates will only be released from Monday to Friday. Thus, records for Saturday, Sunday and holidays will always enter public information on the following business day.
Disease data can be accessed at virtual panel maintained by SES-RJ. According to the consolidated figures for the third week of March, the number of hospitalizations fell by 68.33% and deaths fell by 68.23%. In recent days, of every 100 tests carried out in health units in the state, only two were positive.
In a note, SES-RJ states that, in addition to the sustained drop in indicators, a study carried out by its Center for Strategic Information and Response in Health Surveillance pointed out that the flow of data communicated by the 92 municipalities in the state is greater on Wednesdays and Thursdays. fairs. According to the agency, this observation about the weekly routine in city halls reinforces the decision of the technical team in relation to updating the data from Monday to Friday, as is already the case with other diseases.
“The largest volume of data is entered into the system during the week and to a lesser extent on weekends. The change will not impact the state’s epidemiological data, since for the analysis of scenarios, records by date of occurrence are used”, adds the note.
