The governor of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán, announced his support for the set of social protection measures announced by President Nicolás Maduro, this May 1st, within the framework of Labor Day.
He affirmed that President Maduro has generated new economic alternatives and care for the Venezuelan people to face the political, economic and social situation in recent years.
“The Venezuelan people will not be a victim of speculative inflation due to salary increases; we are taking a historic step in the indexing process; we are aware of the high cost of living and of those who have generated this criminal theft of assets abroad.”
According to Terán, Venezuela is currently experiencing an economic recovery, after suffering strong attacks during 2016.
“This 2023 we managed to supply and increase food production and advance in the development of the country,” he said.
Social protection measures
Among the measures announced, Terán highlighted the new tax reform, the new savings bank system, the recovery of health entities, the appointment of a high-level commission to review collective agreements, the creation of the digital bank for the working class , special housing plan and the creation of the fund for the protection and stabilization of social benefits for workers.
“These are unique measures against a country blocked, sanctioned and diminished its public resources as a result of the corruption of the Venezuelan opposition in delivering the country’s assets abroad,” he said.
Citgo is from Venezuela
Likewise, Terán ratified his support for the complaint about the delivery of the Venezuelan company Citgo to a sector of the Venezuelan opposition.
“It is an act of international piracy, so I want to denounce it and support the statement issued by the Venezuelan State through the Foreign Ministry; I want to remind our people that this is a company that contributed approximately 13 billion dollars to the country’s income, for oil refining,” the governor explained.
