Government of Dina Boluarte appoints a new consul of Peru in Mexico

The Government terminated the functions of Milagros Miranda Rojas as Peruvian consul in Mexico.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs appointed Carlos Jesus Rossi Covarrubias as Consul General of Peru in Mexico. The designation was made official this Saturday through Supreme Resolution 040-2023-RE, published in the Legal Regulations bulletin of the Official Gazette El Peruano. The supreme resolution has the signature of the president Dina Boluarte and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ana Cecilia Gervasi.

Last Friday, the Government terminated the functions of Milagros Miranda Rojas as Peruvian consul in Mexico. The change was made after the Peru will withdraw the Peruvian ambassador from Mexico after the alleged interference of the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) in political affairs.

The resolution that appoints Rossi Covarrubias also specifies that the aforementioned diplomatic official must assume functions that will be established by vice-ministerial resolution. In the same way, he mentions that his appointment to the position is in accordance with the Single Ordered Text of the Law of the Diplomatic Service of the Republic.

Who is Carlos Jesus Rossi Covarrubias?

The new consul, Carlos Rossi, had been serving since January 2022 as a minister in the Diplomatic Service of the Republic and director of Security and Defense of the General Directorate for Multilateral and Global Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
