Government of CDMX foresees more resources for security and the Prosecutor's Office in 2023

The Secretary of Citizen Security will have an 8.42% increase in its budget for 2023, since it is proposed to allocate 25,283 million pesoswhich is equivalent to 1,965 million more than what was assigned for this 2022 for the dependency.

The objective of the Secretariat for next year will be “to consolidate the citizen security model based on respect for human rights, evidence, police development and inter-institutional coordination, promoting the co-responsible participation of citizens for crime prevention” , indicates the 2023 Expenditure Budget project.

The police will also receive an increase: the Auxiliary Police with 12,107.5 million pesos, 27% more than in 2022; the Banking and Industrial Police with 6,453.2, which represents an increase of 20.2%.

Among the goals of the Secretary of Citizen Security are:

  • Promote reporting as a tool in the fight against impunity.
  • Operation and functioning of prisons in Mexico City.
  • Attention and prevention of crimes in coordination with the levels of Government.
  • Carry out intelligence activities and improve the development and professionalization of the elements of the citizen security forces.
