In the participation of the “Open Dialogue” space held in the Departmental Legislative Assembly (ALD), the authorities of the Santa Cruz Government presented their observations on the INE Census data regarding the inconsistencies in the registration rates and data on live births. in the department, among other indicators.

The director of the Cruceño Institute of Statistics (ICE), Juan Pablo Suárez, compared the differences that the departmental and registration projections range between 11% and 12% in relation to the INE.

“We have always managed an enrollment rate of 72%, but now the data indicates 86%. There is something that does not add up to these figures,” said Suárez, who emphasized the need for greater national precision in the data that directly influences in regional planning.

He added that Portachuelo, for example, lost 45% of its participation, while El Torno registered a decrease of 20%. “In the case of the municipality of Santa Cruz, the losses reach 150 million bolivianos per year,” he explained.

In turn, the advisor to the Government, Darío Monasterio, called attention to the losses in tax sharing that they represent for Santa Cruz based on the census data for 2024.

Monasterio explained that several municipalities in the department of Santa Cruz face severe reductions in their annual budget due to the results of the census. He highlighted the Santa Cruz fight to have the census carried out in 2023, given the urgency represented by the updated data from Santa Cruz for the fiscal pact.

Among the Government’s proposals for the fiscal pact, it is proposed that tax sharing include an equity fund to increase the resources of departmental governments, municipalities and public universities, aimed at budgetary imbalances that arise in public goods and services. .

These percentages will have to accommodate the population data omitted from the 2024 census, of which the Government does not agree and cannot accept them, he argued.

“There is clearly a very strong omission, also the presentation of the Cruceño Institute of Statistics (shows) a very large omission with respect to the projections, and there is not the same proportion in the departments,” Monasterio clarified.
