The Dominican Government ordered yesterday that, with immediate effectiveness for this month of January, the General Directorate of Retirements and Pensions in charge of the State level all active civil pensions that are below that amount at 10,000 pesos.
The announcement was made at the National Palace by President Luis Abinader together with the Minister of Labor, Luis Miguel D ‘Camps and the Director of Budget, José Rijo Presbot, where he announced that this measure will not only benefit direct pensioners, but also It will also be effective for those who receive a survivorship pension.
As explained by the head of state, the initiative will have an economic impact for the year 2022 of about 2 thousand 380 million pesos and will impact more than 92,627 civilian pensioners throughout the country. “In addition, in this sense I also want to highlight that since last month this same measure was applied to police pensions paid by the national budget,” said the president after indicating that the latter will have an investment by the state of 150 million euros. pesos and will benefit more than 6,537 police pensioners.
The impact
“It should be noted that the execution of the process of equalization of civil and police pensions, have a total impact on the national budget of more than two thousand five hundred and eighty million pesos,” added the President.
He said that, likewise, the number of beneficiaries of the Solidarity Pensions of the Subsidized Regime is increasing, with an investment of 772 million pesos, for an increase of 27% compared to 2021. He also reported that he had the pension, with the sum of RD $ 10,000.00 per month, of 4,133 former workers who contributed to the defunct Dominican Social Security Institute (IDSS), and who for multiple reasons could not accumulate the 400 contributions provided by Law 1896-48, to be entitled to a pension.
“The execution of the payment of these pensions will have an impact on the annual national budget of more than five hundred and thirty-seven million pesos,” he said.
Added to those already arranged, Abinader also communicated that he had arranged the pension, with the sum of 10,000 pesos, each, from 484 former sugarcane workers.
